The big day out, when the country came to town, was held in New Zealands most beautiful town friendly Feilding on the last Friday of the school holidays. RURAL DAY - an iconic annual event that had a big programme of family fun held in Feilding CBD that celebrates our rural heritage. Country comes to town!

As always, the town has the Best Dressed Windows  ready and waiting and will come to a standstill for the crazy and colourful running of the Gumboot Race Relays which sees teams rushing through the street in a rural obstacle challenge. This year we have added a new open category so anyone and everyone can get involved.

It’s a great day for families with a lot of light-hearted fun! Getting into the country spirit is all part of Rural Day - wearing check shirts and denim, gumboots and straw hats as well as a few sheep and cow oneseys!

 

Manchester Square will be packed with farm animals, non-stop entertainment, rides, displays and all kinds of fun rural activities and competitions, plus, non stop entertainment and the friendly Feilding cafes, eateries and retailers will be open all day long. 

 

 

 

This is a free public event celebrating all things rural that are important to our town, district, culture and economy.

NEXT LEVEL ATHLETES -Rangitahi Open / Family Category - GUMBOOT RELAY

Introducing a “new event category”  the Open class. Make up a team made up of 3 people any age / gender – can be friends, family or colleagues. The same rules as the schools – bring your own gumboots and plenty of energy!

You could be the first winners of this inaugural Category!! Trophy and prizes for winning team and prizes for runner up team.

BAYLEYS REAL ESTATE - RURAL ART COMPETITION

This is a great opportunity to show of your artisitic side by creating a rural themed piece of art on paper or canvas using paint, crayon, pencil, ink - whatever suits your creative style. Winners and runner up art will be displayed at Rural Day and at Feilding Art Centre for November Youth Art Month. 

Two categories - 6 to 12 years and 13 to 18 years old. (a separate colouring competition will be running for 5 and under, more details to come)

Registration is FREE but you must be registered to enter by 29th September 2025. Artwork to be delivered to FDP (22 Manchester Square) by 4pm Tuesday 30th September.

PGG WRIGHTSON - RURAL BEST DRESSED

There are 3 separate categories; 0 to 11 years, 12 - 18 years and a new class,Environment Recycle - Open (Think rural WoW!) - Open to all ages.

PRIZES :Winners in each category - $100 PGG Wrightson Voucher & rosette . Runners up in each category receive a $50 PGG Wrightson's voucher.

Registration is FREE but you must be registered to enter by Monday 29th September.

PAPER PLUS FEILDING - COLOURING IN COMPETITION 

For 5 years and under. Poster is available to download below or pick up at our office at 22 Manchester Square. Drop your completed entry to us at 22 Manchester Street or to Paper Plus, Feilding, by Monday 29th September.
