Community Event Calendar July 2026

We’d love YOU to be part of this!

We are creating a Community Events Calendar to showcase what's on and happening across the Manawatū District and Feilding throughout the month of July 2026.

If your school, club, group, workplace, or whānau is planning any type of event or activity in July, it may include a Matariki theme, that our community can take part in, we’d love to include this in the calendar of events! Examples might include:

• Art & craft workshops
• Night‑time guided walks
• Star‑themed movie nights
• Light‑themed art exhibitions
• Gala or Fun Day
• Storytelling evenings
• Displays & Exhibitions
• Community dinners or shared kai
• Any creative idea that celebrates Matariki and brings people together

How to be included in the printed booklet

Please let us know what you’re planning by 15 May to be included in Manawatū's Matariki Winter Festival's Community Calendar of Events which will be promoted in both a printed booklet and online.

Let’s light up Feilding together this July.

Community Invitation

Feilding & District Promotion is excited to launch Feilding in Lights, a month‑long Matariki winter festival designed to bring creativity, culture, and community pride into the heart of our town.  This year’s festival embraces the 2026 Matariki theme Matariki Herenga Waka — the binding of canoes.  A time for unity, inclusion, and bringing people together, to celebrate, reflect, and share knowledge. 

This year’s theme emphasizes ‘For Everyone," encouraging all people across Aotearoa (New Zealand) and the Pacific to connect and celebrate together, regardless of background.

Throughout July, we will bring the community together and the CBD will come alive with light installations, entertainment, trails, competitions, and family‑friendly activities, all designed to increase foot traffic, support local businesses, and create a vibrant winter experience for locals and visitors.

What’s Happening throughout month‑long July Festival 

We've organised a line-up of events to roll out over month of July -Opening Night in Feilding Town Square on 27 June, the Matariki Star Hunt, Community Light Project, Business Window LightUp Trail, Late‑Night Thursdays, Hospitality Challenge, Matariki Market, and the Grand Finale Drone Show on 25 July.       

Now we need to know what else we can add to the big calendar of events.
