Our society was formed over 60 years ago, with the prime object of saving and restoring some of the few remaining traction engines left in the North Island. We now house at least 8 working engines and have a number of engines under restoration.
We are a small club with less than 100 members, who are spread around the country but we are very active in our restoration and preservation work.
We are always keen to welcome new members who have an interest steam engines.
Every third Sunday of the month is a working day when club members meet and work on the upkeep of the engines and site. The committee meets on the Saturday night before and sets a camaraderie social tone for the weekend.
We have started a ‘Steam School’ on the last Sunday of the month, during the winter months for those members who are interested in learning more about steam power and possibly gaining their steam ticket.
You will have seen us at Christmas parades and the like, and we often undertake road runs during the summer to other towns to attend events.
Please contact us for more information on our club.
If you require any further details please contact me
